Characterised by clean lines, simple silhouettes and fuss-free detailing, Prasanna and Preethi’s 3 BHK home in busy Domlur, Bangalore is a masterclass in understated elegance. With a design palette that’s all shades of white, layered with textures and subtle patterns, this interior finds its essence in minimal style centred around a ‘less is more’ approach. There’s an abundance of thoughtfully designed storage, helping to keep the home clutter-free and serene.
The young couple had a clearly laid out directive: the house must have a stunningly stylish interior, and should not overshoot their budget of 12.5 to 13 lakhs. The fact that they did, in fact, spend a couple of lakhs more, was only because they loved the interior so much, they kept adding more elements as the design unfolded!
In Prasanna’s words: “We started with a quote of probably 12 and a half to 13 lakhs, I believe, with all of the things that we needed from an interior perspective. But it came out to around 15 lakhs at the end of the day—not because our designer’s quote was wrong, but because we added more and more things when we started designing the house! I was able to stretch my budget a bit, and she was able to incorporate everything we asked for within our budget.”
Let’s take a look at just what makes their home so special, and find out how HomeLane was able to stay within budget while creating this gorgeous style sanctuary!

A restrained palette of neutrals—warm whites, soft beiges, and sophisticated greys—creates a serene backdrop to this luxe living room. The focal L-shaped sectional, upholstered in a muted graphite fabric, anchors the space and invites you to sink in and relax. Sheer drapes in white muslin create a nuanced interplay of shadow and brightness throughout the day.
The TV wall, in white with strips of gleaming gold, floats above a minimalist console that beautifully balances aesthetics with functionality. To one side, a Shoji jaali screen separates the living from the dining and open kitchen, neatly demarcating zones while maintaining sightlines. The screen was an afterthought, and Preethi loves the way it turned out! As she tells us, “Since this entire area was quite open, we considered adding a small partition that would allow us to place the dining area hidden behind it. I think this partition has greatly enhanced the overall look of our home!”
Prasanna was very particular that all the wiring should be concealed. “What I wanted was efficient cable management, because I didn’t want the room to look cluttered. I told them they needed to conceal everything, and they did a great job—there’s not a single wire that you can see outside!”
The simple false ceiling designs in the foyer, living room and kitchen together set them back by INR 1.6 lakh, a worthwhile spend that added a luxe touch.

Bright, cheery, and timeless, the U-shaped all-white kitchen has a wow factor that Preethi absolutely loves! Everything is within reach when cooking, with thoughtfully designed spaces for storing appliances, utensils, and pantry essentials. Sleek black granite countertops provide ample workspace for meal preparation, and the hidden under-cabinet lighting highlights the subtly patterned backsplash.
Just behind the partition, a compact breakfast table offers a cosy nook for morning coffee, and breakfast dosas shared hot from the stove! Bucket chairs in white maintain the clean and simple visual narrative.
Prasanna is all praise for the seamless, clutter-free aesthetic. “We didn’t want to have the RO purifier unit out on the wall where all the wires and pipes would be visible. So Preethi suggested installing an under-the-sink RO system where the water comes in from below,” he points out.
Every appliance is carefully tucked away in its own designated space, so that the black granite counter is always clutter-free. The tambour unit with a sleek aluminium rolling shutter keeps bulky gadgets and tools out of sight, but easily accessible when needed.
The classic work triangle thumb rule is integrated into the kitchen layout, creating efficient and ergonomic workspaces. The careful positioning of the hob, sink, and refrigerator forms the essential triangle that reduces unnecessary movement during meal prep, making cooking a breeze.

Vibrant and spacious, the kids’ bedroom reflects the young masters’ preferences and personality. A striking deep blue accent wall adorned with playful space-themed wallpaper creates an imaginative backdrop, balanced against practical white furniture. Each of the boys gets their own study desk, with ample storage for toys and books.
Needless to say, the little boys love their room! As Prasanna tells us, “My son actually selected the colours, the wallpaper and everything. He came with us to HomeLane, and in fact designed the entire bedroom along with the designer!”
The celestial theme extends into the bed linen, with sheets and pillows that feature rockets, planets and stars. This is definitely a space that encourages creativity and play!
Following the space and rocket theme in the room, the POP false ceiling is cleverly crafted in the shape of fluffy clouds. Spotlights and LED strip lights cast a hidden glow at night.

Preethi wanted to showcase her collection of brass idols, and the pooja room was designed accordingly. Simple cabinetry houses pooja essentials, while floating shelves in walnut laminate are perfect for displaying the idols. “I had read somewhere that brass items emit a lot of positivity, and that’s what we wanted for our pooja room!” she tells us.
Delicately patterned wallpaper in soft blue forms a serene backdrop, while the false ceiling, detailed out in walnut to match the shelves, adds a chic touch.
The total cost for all the interiors came to INR 20,05,000—and when HomeLane’s generous discount was applied, this cost came down to a total of INR 15 lakhs—well within Prasanna and Preethi’s budget!
